Calendar Girls Movie Review

Madhur Bhandarkar is a filmmaker who has been stick to certain genre of realistic cinema. Few of his films have worked wonders on box-office because they gave a fresh thought process to the industry. But for the most part his films were never that great even though they might looks good to some extent. He also mostly worked with not so big fame actors in the industry. Now, He does not seems to be making progress in giving us something wonderful in terms of cinema. His new film "Calendar Girls" is based on the current glamorous lifestyle, which is not so different topic from his commercially successful film "Fashion".

The very first thing wrong with the film is it takes too much of unnecessary time on character's life. The movie gets stuck with characters and it doesn't make steady progress with the plot.Plot may not have loop hole but it covers the glamour industry at a short level not at a broader level.Girls mostly from India and Pakistan gets selected for the Calendar Posters which brings them to Mumbai. After Calendar's success some girls makes good moves while some of them were forced to make bad moves.Few of them also makes small little compromises.Film's story is just this much.

In the second half the movie does try to pick up on the plot. Yet it does not go beyond a certain level. The actress are pretty new to convince us for a brutal true story genre. Overall, "Calendar Girls" is a pretty average film to watch.

Verdict:-Average

Ratings:- 2 / 5 Stars
