Bombay Velvet (U/A)
Length:- 2 hrs. 29 min.
Anurag Kashyap has been in the industry for long time now.In the past decade he has won heart of many by his quality cinema work. Now, People expect a really nice piece of work from him but here comes his next film "Bombay Velvet". This film has something unexpected unlike other Anurag Kashyap films which is not so well made movie. We have something different to see in "Bombay Velvet" but this film has lot of flaws. The suspense never holds up until you cannot guess. The film is entirely predictable with some elements unintentionally comical scenes. The sets are giant and makes us remind of old times of India.
The giants are also unable to impress us after a while. The story is so dragging that it may lead to death to boredom.By the time when you think the film could have been over then comes the interview. I personally felt so exhausted after watching this movie. Karan Johar's first actor acting appearance is not impressive at all. KK plays an intellectual detective never really gets a chance to do something significant. The characters are too many in number to have a decent on screen time. Ranbir Kapoor tries his best but he is overwhelm by the nasty script. Anuksha looks cute but she is really buried under bad writing.
Film making is not a problem here. the real problem is entertainment doesn't really exist here. There is just story which is shown without a good usage of presentation skills."Bombay Velvet" had the potential of becoming something similar like "Once Upon a Time in Mumbai". But what we have here is a drama which is so long that it never ending. the betrayal which is so obvious that even a dump guy can see it coming. The actors who put a lot of efforts which ultimately all goes in vain. After all the very good films by Anurag Kashyap this film based on the book "Mumbai Fable" is certainly disappointing.
