Dharam Sankat Mein Movie Review

Dharam Sankat Mein (U/A)

Length:- 2 hrs. 9 min.

Review
"Dharam Sankat Mein" is a comedy drama which tries to convey something smarter and cool but it is half baked and not that funny. So far we saw two films like "P K" and "Oh My God" both them have had some commonality. In terms of business and mad drama towards the superstitious activities happening in the country on the name of religion. Both of the films were loved by audience but "Dharam Sankat Mein" is unable to generate the spark and curiosity among the audiences. I must say that the film had a really poor marketing strategy.

"Dharam Sankat Mein" never explores it's potential and it remains generic for the most part. Neil Anand Baba (Naseruddin Shah) is baba who lives more youthful and stylist life then even the youngsters. From the first glance itself you can find out that he is actually a fraud guy."Dharam Sankat Mein" is also not an original idea. It's actually derived from a British movie "Infidel" which had somewhat same idea of a Muslim guy in Britain finds out he was born to Jewish family. In a similar way Dharam (paresh Rawal) a Hindu founds he was born to a Muslim family. So he is in search of his father.

The lead actor chosen for the film i.e. Paresh Rawal is a great choice. He is good in playing these kind of roles. The topic chosen is also good enough. The potential of topic and the actor is under utilized by the filmmaker.Writing falls weak, the cinematography is good and the movie does have moments but ultimately there is no good message left to convey other than what we have seen in "PK" and "Oh My God". Overall, It just a movie which can not be given a shot for good time.

Verdict:- Average

Ratings:- 2 / 5 Stars
