Mardaani Movie Review

Mardaani (A)

Length:- 1 hr. 54 min.

Review
"Mardaani" is a film made on women empowerment in India. The status of women and significant increment in the no. of rapes in the recent few years has certainly raised debate on the social status of women. Its not a long time ago when a rape victim girl died in Delhi. After which questions has been raised on the women security in public places. Indian film industry is also actor dominating but in the last few years many movies have come up with the women oriented scripts."Mardaani" is also a film based on women empowerment in India. This film is also a comeback movie for Rani Mukerji after her marriage. When I saw the trailer of Mardaani I personally thought that this movie could be a entertaining with a social message. But When I saw the movie I didn't find it as good as expected.

"Mardaani" focuses on  the abduction of girls and forcing them to the prostitution. Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukerji) is a senior Inspector in Mumbai. One day she come to know that one the girl named Pyari is missing. Afterwards she tries to do some investigation about the same then eventually she founds that there is an organized crime going on. She encounters mafia head Walt (Tahir Bhasin) on phone and challenges catch him within 30 days. It takes sometime for the story to get settle down. So, the execution of the film is slow. Second half of the film was better then first half because its when the film gains some pace.

Rani Mukherji is the soul lead of the film. She is terrific, simplistic yet actively and energetic. The climax comes up some unfolding in the story yet the ending is not entirely convincing. Slow starting ruins the initial interest towards the movie. Especially when you are pumped up to watch a movie.Overall, satisfaction level after watching the film remains low in spite of the good message it wants to convey. The best part of the film is its realistic approach towards execution.

"Mardaani" is not a hard-hitting piece but does it charm us the way it should have. The script had a good potential while the topic which was being chosen was  good enough. Yet there isn't any extraordinary or exceptional which this movie shows us.

Verdict:- Not as good as expected

Ratings:- 2.5 / 5 Stars
