Length: - 2hrs. 13 min.
Highway is a movie which could have better in many ways. Highway is not too different from Imitiaz Ali’s other films. In this film he doesn’t succeed to make this larger than life or something extraordinary. Alia Bhatt is quiet engaging and interesting to watch. This actress in such a young age & just her second film shows what she is capable of. Imitiaz Ali has done a job in nurturing her in this film. Randeep Hooda’s role is not important in the film meanwhile the film is more focused on Alia’s character. Randeep Hooda has acted finely in his part. Highway tries to convey a message of happiness not lying in getting in the comfort zone but rather being yourself and doing what you feel like doing.
Veera Tripathi (Alia Bhatt) is being kidnapped by Mahabir Bhati (Randeep Hooda) obviously to get some money from her father. How Veera develops feelings for Mahabir in the meantime he takes her many places round the country. Veera doesn’t want to go back to her home because there is so much pain in there for her. How Veera gets over from her pain & what happens to her love about Mahabir?
Film only gains momentum in last about 20-25 minutes which makes Imitiaz Ali’s effort visible her. But the rest of the film absolutely lacks moments to engage its viewers. The locations are auspicious which takes you to a new enjoyable ride but at the same time the plot doesn’t move much. Sometime you feel that there isn’t much happening the film. Songs & background music are stunning meanwhile the dream is utterly boring & less enjoyable. If some work could have been done for making this story interesting, things could have turned in a different way.
Verdict: - There is so much to appreciate here meanwhile the film remains an average watch
