Hasee Toh Phasee Movie Review

Hasee Toh Phasee (U/A)

Length: - 2 hrs. 21 min.

Hasee Toh Phasee revolves mostly around two three characters: Nikhil (Sidharth Malhotra), Karishma (Adah Sharma) & Meeta (Parineeti Chopra). Parineeti here is a real fun to watch; she is energetic and bubbly. With every film Parineeti is getting better. Sidharth Malhotra last seen in Student of The Year is young and confident; he makes an easy impression. Like most of the Dharma Production movies this one is also based on the today’s upper middle class youth. What’s different here is two interesting characters Nikhil & Meeta. As Meeta says in the film “Tum Oxygen ho aur mein double hydrogen, humari chemistry bilkul paani ki tarah hai” seems true here.

The story is simple – Nikhil is a businessman who has a girlfriend Karishma, whom he is about to get married. At one point of time Nikhil meets Meeta, Karishma’s younger sister. They spent some time together after which they develops feelings for each other. HTP is full of youthful conservation but if you doesn’t like it much this film may give you migraine. There is an interesting scene in which Nikhil asks Karishma’s father “ Mein gaadi pe aau gode par bhi toh aa sakta hu” then Karishma’ s father replies “ tum rocket pea a jao par sahi madap mein aa jao”.

As clear from the story itself the plot of HTP is simple and was part of numerous other Bollywood films. What’s different here is the way it’s being executed. Its Parineeti Chopra’s character Meeta whose genius mind keeps you entertained and curious at the same time. Sidharth in a role of Nikhil is a sensible boy who is thinker types. No. of songs are a way too much than required. Witty dialogues, some interesting moments and sequences here makes HTP somewhat watchable. Though overall HTP is not that good film.

Verdict: -Flawed Fun

Ratings: - 2.5 / 5 Stars
