Gunday Movie Review

Gunday (U/A)

Length:- 2 hrs. 39 min.

Review
Gunday is a romantic action film, set in the year 1971 in Calcutta. It’s about two rogue Bikram (Ranveer Singh) & Bala (Arjun Kapoor) who becomes big Gunday’s of Calcutta; post making of Bangladesh as a separate country. Gunday takes too much time to settle its background story, so its execution is slow. Content wise the film is actual on the lower side. Bikram & Bala establishes an empire to rule the city after which a special officer ACP Satyajeet Sarkar (Irfan Khan) has been sent to end their kingdom. Post inception scenes in the film like Bikram & Bala jumping from the train which is running on a bridge, stealing easily in their childhood, sometimes seems unrealistic.

Ranveer Singh is a fine actor, this film relies on his strong shoulder. Gunday certainly has a big problem with its problem in its execution and plot, rest seems to be fine. Dialogues are written in a good way which actually makes senses all the time. As the plot seems to be familiar, even after a good twist. You might wander there isn’t much which you haven’t seen the other similar films. Arjun Kapoor isn’t that bad actor meanwhile in front of Ranveer Singh, he doesn’t look that good. Arjun Kapoor in many scenes lacks the naturality and maturity required.

Both Bikram & Bala falls in love with the same girl Nandita (Priyanka Chopra). Nandita once meets them personally that’s where she says “ Ek Aashiq se saath dosara free, yeh offer toh pehli baar suna hai”. Nandita loves just Bikram which obviously becomes the reason for the fight between Bikram & Bala. There is a twist in the film due to which some curiosity has been generated. Overall, Gunday is just not nearly good enough as it was being aspected from this film.

Verdict:-   Not Good Enough

Ratings:-   2.5 / 5 stars
