Outstanding Bollywood Movies of 2013



1. Special Chabbis
Special Chabbis is simply superb movie inspired from a real life heist which took place somewhere in 1987 in Mumbai. This was the second film by Neeraj Pandey after “A Wednesday”; he did an even better job in this one. Special Chabbis is one of the most enjoyable movies of the year.



2. Kai Po Che
Kai Po Che is a movie based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel “Three mistakes of my life”. This was the next film after five years from the writer & director Abhishek Kapoor after his last film“Rock On”. This was very well made film, which did good business on Box office as well.



3.  Bombay Talkies
Bombay Talkies is the film made for celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema. This film has four short stories directed by four well known directors from Bollywood. This film has a title song “Bombay Talkies” which has numerous actors as a cameo. Bombay Talkies is a very good film,made on a small budget.



4.  Ship of Theseus
Ship of Theseus is movie made in as many as four languages; this film is written and directed by Anand Gandhi. “Ship of Theseus" was critically acclaimed nationally and internationally. This film never takes a wrong step, one of the films that should not be missed anyway.



5.   The Lunchbox
The Lunchbox is an interesting film made by a joint venture of many production houses including “Dharma Productions” and “Dar Motion Pictures”. Lunchbox was certainly the best films of 2013 and suggested to be send for the Oscars, but “The Good Road” was chosen over this film.



6. Shahid
Shahid is a movie based on the controversial life of a lawyer “Shahid Azmi”. The lawyer who won as many as 17 cases in a short career; the film has summed up all the cases in one and makes it an integral one. Shahid was a box office flop but the film was appreciated everywhere. Hansal Mehta’s tribute to “Shahid Azmi” was a really good effort to watch.



7. Lootera
Lootera is romantic film by Vikramaditya Motwane which is loosely based on a short story named “The Last Leaf”. This film was crisp and compelling drama in which both the actors Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh performed really well.




8. Madras Cafe
Madras Cafe is a movie inspired from some real life events of Srilankan war and assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Shoojit Sarkar who earlier directed Vicky Donor, creates this realistic drama believable and comparable to some good Hollywood movies of similar genre.
