Mickey Virus Movie Review

Mickey Virus (U/A)

Length: - 2 hrs. 15 min.

Review
Mickey Virus is a comic thriller based on hackers based in Delhi and criminal case of International hackers getting killed. Film is too slow in the first 40- 50 minutes that it doesn’t matter whether you watch it or not. It’s only after that the film gains some momentum but there are too many twists and turns which are certainly not acceptable when they are compared to real life. Mickey Virus focuses on its central character Mickey Arora having nickname as Mickey Virus.

Mickey Arora (Manish Paul) is a Delhi based hackers who works as a freelancer and also engaged with a big community of hackers in Delhi. ACP Siddhanth (Manish Choudhary) who has been assigned a case of International hackers getting killed during their visit to Delhi. He takes help from Mickey and makes him an ethical hacker. Mickey falls in love with Kamayani (Elli Avaram); to save her a trouble he makes a transfer of Rs 100 crore by hacking into bank’s site. Soon after Kamayani has been murdered, also the money transfer he did was completely illegal. Mickey finds himself in a big trouble, what happens next can be seen in the film.

Mickey Virus shows how casually youth takes their day to day things. This is being shown so deep because of which film loses its track. Manish Paul work is fair enough if not good. Varun Badola is superb in a supporting role as an Inspector. Puja Gupta doesn’t get much chance in the film.

Dialogues of the film are written in an absurd language which is mostly being used by youth nowadays. Mickey Virus shows too much hacking that it’s hard to believe that there are too many available, living like a vagabond just in Delhi. Often we see computer screens are been shown to make us believe that a high profile work are actually being done. There is disconnect between the plot and high graphics display.

Die Hard 4 which was a film based on hacking shows a proper connection between a real life genius and a computer genius. In Mickey Virus it is being shown that the other than hackers nobody knows anything about computers, even how much does it cost to get the system upgraded.Overall, I will say that Mickey Virus is film that lacks proper structuring and execution of the plot.

Verdict: - Throws light on an interesting topic but fails to do justice with it.

Escape Plan Movie Review

Escape Plan (A)

Length: - 1 hr. 57 min.

Review
Escape Plan has good plot but its execution is weak. Sometimes it’s hard to understand the way things are being executed. Film’s center character is Ray Breslin (Stallone) a prison breaking expert, who tests the reliability of the prisons in order to ensure that prisoners can stay there for longer time. According to Breslin a successful breakout depends on three things- knowing the layout, understanding the routine, and help from the outsider. Breslin gets a new assignment to check the one of the most secure prison in the world. Reaching there he comes to know that he has been double crossed and there is no way to escape from the prison as it’s on a ship in the middle of the sea. Also, he has lost contact with his teammates. How Breslin escapes is interesting to watch?

Arnold and Sylvester Stallone are together in the film which has certainly raised the expectations from it before the release itself. Both Arnold and Sylvester seem to be under-utilized in the film. Neither there are enough fighting sequences nor does the use of weapons which was required in a film with these two actions oriented heroes. The pace of the film is slow which makes the twists and turns less enjoyable. Dialogues are cheesy like “you hit like a vegetarian” and “you do not look that smart, you do not either”.

What could have helped the film is much faster pace and less confusing and finely executed twists and turns. So that as the film proceeds you do not feel like missed something. Arnold remains as a supporting character almost till the end. There is a Muslim character in the film played by Faran Tahir through whom  Hindi dialogues are added  like: Yeh jahannum ke darwazeh hai” are added in the film.Bollywood has already planned for the remake of the same film featuring Akshay Kumar and Joh Abraham in main leads.

Overall, Escape Plan remains an above average affair in spite of the curiosity which was being created.

Verdict: - Not as good as expected

Shahid Movie Review

Shahid (A)

Length:-  2 hrs. 9 min.

Review

Shahid is a biographical documentary based on the controversial life of Shahid Azmi. Film shows how our system lacks just in the basics of justice, rest a way beyond. Movie shows what happened to Shahid Azmi after which he made his mind to become a lawyer and fight for the people who cannot afford justice. Although there isn’t enough explanation about what happened with Shahid in Kashmir but still the film is engaging and thrilling. My favorite  dialogue of the film is “ Zurm karne wale aur zurm shane wale dono ka koi mashab nahi hota hai, Kya hota hai na marta bhi insaan hai aur marta bhi insaan hai”.

Shahid Azmi (Raj Kumar Yadav) is being arrested somewhere in 1993 because of the belief of having links with the terrorists. Being tortured there continuously; Shahid resumes his education in jail itself. He comes out the jail after 7 years because of the lack of the evidence. He develops a relationship with his first client Mariam (Prabhleem Sandhu) and finally gets married to her. He fought as many as 17 cases in his career before being shot dead by unknown people. How he was accepted by the society and his journey to pursued justice is what movie is all about.

Raj Kumar Yadav is brilliant in & as Shahid. Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub is also good in a supporting character of Shahid brother. Prabhleen Sandhu brings reality to her character emotionally. Shahid is a brave and sincere effort by Director Hansal Mehta. It cannot be denied that sometimes film struggles to collect numerous incidents from Shahid’s life. Shahid is quiet watchable and gripping entertainer.

Verdict:- Has flaws in it but still gripping and engaging watch.

Boss Movie Review

Boss (U/A)

Length: - 2 hrs. 26 min.

Review
Boss is a typical Bollywood masala entertainment film. It works on the similar plot like other movies of the same genre do. Anthony D’ Souza who directed one of the big budget Bollywood film named “Blue” in 2009. This time also concentrates on more the budget side and less on making the film better. Boss is a predictable drama and the supporting cast of the film is absolutely neglected. Film relies solely Akshay Kumar, he performs well we want film also to work for us along his performance. Khiladi guy has done so many action films but nothing much has changed in his films with time.

Satyakant Shastri (Mithun Chakraborty) wants to make both his sons decent guys. His elder son Boss (Akshay Kumar) every time somehow entangles into fighting with some boys and eventually becomes a rogue king. He is guided and raised by Big Boss (Danny Denzongpa) after his father abandons him. His younger brother Shiv (Shiv Pandit) falls in love with Ankita (Aditi Rao Hydari) in no time. Ankita’s father Ayushman Thakur (Ronit Roy) is a bad cop who takes Shiv into custody and puts wrong charges on him. How Boss settles all this, that’s what movie is all about.

There isn’t twist or turns in the film. It’s a straight forward drama which is remake of Malayalam film Pokkiri Raja. There are numerous fighting sequences which are quiet common in such films; in this one it seems more than required. Aditi Rao Hydari is wasted as a character. She looks good only in bikini. Shiv Pandit also has nothing much to do the film. Ronit Roy is interesting in a role of bad cop.

Boss has too many witty lines; two among them are repeated again and again. One is “Maut ko toh yuhi badnaam karte hai, takleef toh zindagi deti hai” by Ronit Roy and second is “Apne ko kya apne ko toh bas pani nikalna hai” by Akshay Kumar. How many times we are supposed to enjoy the same dialogues?

Verdict: - Strictly Average

War Chhod Na Yaar Movie Review

War Chhod Na Yaar (U/A)

Length: - 2 hrs. 05 min.

Review
“War Chhod Na Yaar” is based on Indo-Pak border issues. It shows how countries like China and America take advantage of such situations. Film creates curios and interesting moments but seems slow at times. Long and tiring climax is also one of the weak points of the film. This drama suggests in a simplistic ay that how the border issue can be easily resolved and it’s good for both the countries not to fight because nobody wins.

Captain Rana (Sharman Joshi) is a brave and intelligent guy who instead of fighting enjoys the relationship with the Pakistani soldier Captain Qureshi (Javed Jaffery) on India –Pakistan border. On the other side TV reporter Ruth Dutta (Soha Ali Khan) goes to the border for a secret coverage as being told by Prime Minister of India. She discovers a healthy relationship between Indo-Pak soldiers and tries to tries to find out a way to stop the battle supposed to happen in a near future.

The dialogues of the film are thought provoking but the romance between Rana and Ruth seems unconvincing. They just fall in love in no time. Sharman Joshi plays his role responsible well. Javed Jaffery is also good in his part. Dalip Tahil plays four roles in the film which are P.M. of both India and Pakistan while the other two are president of US and Premier of China. This reminds me of Kamal Hassan in Dasavathaaram; although things are quite different it. Soha Ali Khan looks charming; she has improved her performance with time.

Verdict: - Interesting topic makes it a bit engaging but doesn't go beyond a certain extent. Hence, remains an average watch.

Ranbir Kapoor and his Stardom

Ranbir Kapoor is the son of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor . He is also grandson of the great film maker Raj Kapoor. Ranbir Kapoor did an acting cum film making course from New York before joining film industry. After which he worked as an Assistant Director in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film"Black".

Ranbir Kapoor started his acting career from Sawaariya by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which was a box office failure. In the film not only Ranbir Kapoor's but also Sonam Kapoor's performance was appreciated. Ranbir's second film "Bachna Ae Haseeno" also didn't work much on box office.

Ranbir's career started booming from his 3rd film named "Wake Up Sid" which was both commercially as well as critically successful. Wake Up Sid made Ranbir Kapoor won many awards as a lead Actor that year. Later he couple of flops and hits was added to his career.Flops were Rocket Singh and Anjana Anjaani while Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani and Rajneeti
were among big hits.

Rockstar and Barfi made audience realize that Ranbir has been added to the big stars list like the Khan's and others. Rockstar wasn't much appreciable but Ranbir Kapoor's performance was so good. This made us realize he can make films work on box office just because of him in it. After Rockstar Ranbir worked on joyful, enjoyable and fresh movie named "Barfi". Film has crosses 100 crore mark, he was one of the young stars to touch 100 crore easily.

His second last film "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" has made 200 crore globally in a very short period of time . film cannot be appreciated much as per the critical reception is concerned. Yet it was enjoyable film in many ways. Besharam is the recent film of him by which his stardom is letting down. Besharam's collections came down drastically from second day itself.

At this point of time in his career; Ranbir wasn't expected to do even a single film like this. What is being expected from him is to work on youth centered topics based film films along with somewhat moving plot. This works for the films to be a hit in a phenomenal way.

Besharam Movie Review

Besharam (U/A)

Length: - 2 hrs. 18 min.

Review
Besharam is so silly to understand, the script is just a set of some ridiculous events. In one scene Ranbir Kapoor shows his almost half of his naked ass. Ranbir Kapoor is now considered to be an established actor although he has performed like a Besharam but that doesn’t help the film much. Abhinav Kashyap who earlier directed a successful film named “Dabangg” has made this film without its soul. Rishi Kapoor & Neetu Kapoor are also let down by their underwritten characters.

Babli (Ranbir Kapoor) is car thief and orphan. One day Babli meets Tara Sharma (Pallavi Sharda) in a party and develops feelings for her. Tara doesn’t like him much. Babli steals a car without knowing that it belongs to Tara. Tara goes to a police station for the complaint/FIR, there she meets Inspector Chulbul Chautala (Rishi Kapoor) who under the pressure of his wife Bulbul ask her for bribery. Babli as soon as comes to know that he stole Tara’s car tries to help her in getting back the same.
Expectations from the film were high but it’s being letdown, comedy in the film also doesn’t work much. Pallavi Sharda performs well as a newcomer but has nothing much to do in the film. Javed Jaffrey gives an interesting start to the film which sooner turns into a dump entertainer.

Besharam also has more songs than it was actually required. At times the film seems to be running only by the Kapoor’s and their stardom, not by the script by which it was supposed to be. Few one-liners like “Mere seene mein dil nahi dost jigar hai jigar who kabhi tutata nahi” creates small moments in the film which doesn’t last long.

Verdict: - A disappointment not only by Abhinav Kashyap but also by Ranbir Kapoor by choosing this film.

Rush Movie Review

Rush (U/A)

Length: - 2 hrs. 2 min.

Review
Rush is a crisp and compelling drama about Formula 1 rival racers. Rush makes you feel that you are actually watching F1 race closely. Consistently engaging and never losing its track is the strength of Rush. It takes you to a thrilling experience of F1 race. Film isn’t just about F1 it’s about the journey of rivals who fights, compete and also become inspiration for each other in order to win the battle. The scenes of the film captures every moment from races, engines and emotions. Film is based on the true events and characters of Nikki Lauda and James Hunt are the real ones from 70’s.

James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) is a playboy and cool character who just takes everything with an ease. Nikki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl) is a serious guy who is so desperate for what he wants to do. Nikki Lauda’s father wants him to join his business and says that Lauda's are supposed to be on the front page this way. But Nikki wants to be on the front page by winning the F1 championship. So, he leaves his father along with his money. James and Nikki after fighting with each other in a race becomes the worthy opponent of each other. Someone says to James that fight between Nikki and you is all everybody want to see. In a race Nikki Lauda met with an accident and gets serious injuries on his head and lungs.

Ron Howard who earlier directed films like “Apollo 13” and “A Beautiful Mind” never takes a single wrong step in this film. How these legends of F1 in 70’s fights so desperately to win. How their personal life is being affected by the same is interestingly conveyed. Daniel Bruhl in the role Nikki Lauda steals the show and his performance is ahrd to take eyes off. Chris Hemsworth is also interesting enough to watch as a social party playboy.

Verdict: - One of the nice sports film which shouldn’t be missed

Ratings:-   4 / 5 Stars

Warning 3D Movie Review

Warning 3D (U/A)

Length: - 1 hr. 49 min.

Review
Warning is a slow and tiring drama. The dialogues are ridiculous that there seems to be no work on its writing. They are just a stupid interaction among a bunch of people. While, moving ahead this film seems to be a circumlocution of a series of events which leads nowhere. Only the cinematography of the film makes it somewhat tolerable. Warning is being shot in Fiji but it being never shown as a place. Most of the film is being shot in water to enhance the 3D effects but they not enough. The last half an hour of the film seems really unbearable.

Few friends meeting after sometime and decides to go for sailing. After being on the boat for some time everybody jumps in the water one after the other. With the fact that by mistake they pressed the ladder button twice which had made the ladder back to the ship. There is no other way to get back on the ship. They try various measures to get back including everyone ties there ropes to climb on the ship. One by one they are being attacked by a shark and couldn’t escape it. What happens next is shown at a snail pace.

There is English movie based on somewhat similar plot named “Triangle” which is excellent example how such kind of films can be made. Hopefully "Warning" is not a copy or being inspired from the film “Triangle”. Almost all the girls are being shown in the bikini but the film’s plot is being ignored.

Songs are shown as some kind of background music. In such kind of films good background music is assumed to be sufficient. There is a special song in the film sung by Sonu Nigam which is being shown in the end is good.

Verdict: - A stupid drama which is unbearable in spite of its short
                duration.
