Man of Steel Movie Review

Man of Steel (U/A)

Length: - 2 hrs. 23 min.

Man of Steel was one of the highly anticipated films of the year. Also, the involvement of Christopher Nolan as a Producer has pumped up the expectations from it. The film starts in a epic way with Russell Crowe playing father of Kal-El/Superman. For the first 15-20 minutes it has some breath-taking moments. In the beginning of the film everything seems to be in place. When, film loses its track is sometime before the interval because before the interval something more was expected in terms of the plot.

Man of Steel lacks humor but has some of good dialogues. One of them being people is afraid of what they don’t understand. There isn't a question of originality because it is the one. Film could have been better but not disappointing though.

Jor-El (Russell Crowe) disagrees with General Zod (Michael Shannon) in a way he wants to save their planet Krypton. Also, Jor-El’s wife Lara (Ayelet Zurer) gives a birth to a child. To whom they decide to send to earth in order to save his life. Zod kills Jor-El and is being punished for it. But goes to earth after some a long time in order to find Clark Kent/ Superman (Henry Cavill).

Russell Crowe is superb in his part. Henry Cavill is also good in the role of Superman. Michael Shannon is too good in his role. Amy Adams looks charming in the film.

Sometimes the film gives a feel of Deja-Vu of few films. The fight sequence between Superman & General Zod makes you feel like watching matrix final part fighting scene. While, sometimes you feel similarity with the film 300 as well. Rest, you watch and decide what do you feel?

Verdict: - Man of Steel is fair enough but not up to Nolan’s level of films

  2. thanks for the review Gaurav, planning to watch it soon :)

  3. Good review but I would respectfully disgaree :).
I watched the movie only yesterday and found it incredibly boring, slow and directionless. I thought the director was clueless which way he wanted to take this movie. As one of my friends elegantly put it, " I hate how it's trying to go the Nolan-esque serious route but still wants to keep the silly alien stuff like it is perfectly normal."
I liked your writing style a lot and will look forward to some great reviews!
