Ghanchakkar Movie Review

Ghanchakkar (U/A)

Length: - 2 hrs. 17 min

Ghanchakkar is the second movie in which Emraan Hashmi & Vidya Balan has worked together. The film takes too long to set itself as a mystery but in the end reveals almost nothing. There is so much to appreciate here but all goes in vain because of its boring ending. Ghanchakkar starts off well and the robbery scene is funny and entertaining as well.

Sanjay Athray (Emraan Hashmi) lives with his wife Neetu (Vidya Balan) and wants to quit his career in crime. But sooner gets an offer which cannot be rejected. After committing robbery hides money somewhere & met with an accident in which he loses his memory. Other two guys who commits the crime with him & Sanjay himself tries to find out where, exactly the money is?

Vidya Balan’s character who tries to follow the latest fashion trends madly is entertain and superbly played by Vidya Balan. Just one surprising word ‘Hai’ is repeatedly funny and used many times. Emraan Hashmi is also good in his part but seems to be confused sometimes because of his mysterious character in the film.

Few dialogues are cheesy and really good. Some of them have sexual resemblance as well. Overall, I will say that the film is like nice gravy but has no bread to eat with it. It was expected from the film to give us a nice climax like Talaash or Kahaani but it fails to deliver it.

Verdict: - Above Average

Raanjhanaa Movie Review

Raanjhanaa (U/A)

Length: - 2hrs. 20 min.

Raajhanaa is a story about a boy chasing a girl consistently in spite of her yes and no’s at times. Raajhanaa has a good first half but its second half is confusing, long and less convincing. Though at times you feel the film is good enough that feeling goes in a short span of time.

Kundan (Dhanush) a Brahmin boy who falls in love with a Muslim girl, Zoya (Sonam Kapoor) at first sight. Though she agrees to the relationship but they are being separated by their parents. Kundan’s love remains the same after years while Zoya started liking her colleague Akram (Abhay Deol) and wants even to marry him. Kundan love is being tested every time as the story proceeds.

Film turns out to a political drama in the second half which is not so good. Dhanush is just too good in his role while Sonam Kapoor has also given her best performance till date. Abhay Deol is also fine but his role is not long enough.

Few of the one-liners are really good enough. One of them is “Tumhara pyaar na ho gaya. UPSC ka exam ho gaya .10 saal se paas hi nahi ho raha.

Verdict: - Despite its disappointing second half and plot holes, deserves a watch.

Man of Steel Movie Review

Man of Steel (U/A)

Length: - 2 hrs. 23 min.

Man of Steel was one of the highly anticipated films of the year. Also, the involvement of Christopher Nolan as a Producer has pumped up the expectations from it. The film starts in a epic way with Russell Crowe playing father of Kal-El/Superman. For the first 15-20 minutes it has some breath-taking moments. In the beginning of the film everything seems to be in place. When, film loses its track is sometime before the interval because before the interval something more was expected in terms of the plot.

Man of Steel lacks humor but has some of good dialogues. One of them being people is afraid of what they don’t understand. There isn't a question of originality because it is the one. Film could have been better but not disappointing though.

Jor-El (Russell Crowe) disagrees with General Zod (Michael Shannon) in a way he wants to save their planet Krypton. Also, Jor-El’s wife Lara (Ayelet Zurer) gives a birth to a child. To whom they decide to send to earth in order to save his life. Zod kills Jor-El and is being punished for it. But goes to earth after some a long time in order to find Clark Kent/ Superman (Henry Cavill).

Russell Crowe is superb in his part. Henry Cavill is also good in the role of Superman. Michael Shannon is too good in his role. Amy Adams looks charming in the film.

Sometimes the film gives a feel of Deja-Vu of few films. The fight sequence between Superman & General Zod makes you feel like watching matrix final part fighting scene. While, sometimes you feel similarity with the film 300 as well. Rest, you watch and decide what do you feel?

Verdict: - Man of Steel is fair enough but not up to Nolan’s level of films

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Movie Review

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (U/A)

Length:- 2hrs. 41min.

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2is similar to its previous parts in terms of characters. But neither there is enough number of laughable moments nor does it have plot in place. Post interval the film is so dump that you may fall asleep. Too long in length and too less to say makes Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 a completely boring film. Also, there is a problem that many scenes in the film which are not properly conveyed and it jumps forward to the next scene.

Dharam (Dharmendra) and Gajodhar (Bobby Deol) this time wants to steal from the millionaire Yograj Khanna (Annu Kapoor) by getting Gajodhar married to his daughter Suman (Neha Sharma) while Paramveer (Sunny Deol) want them to be decent ones by leaving the fraudulent activities.

Same old action of a guy beating almost an army comfortable is shown again & again in the film because which you feel bored. Also, there is Johnny Lever but he is unable to bring smile on our face because of the weak dialogue. Anupam Kher as a self-obsessed villain but his character is of lesser importance in the film.

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 has been shot in some of the beautiful locations of UK but it’s boring enough to leave you restless. Also, there is a new actress Kristina Akheeva playing Reet looks elegant.

Verdict: - Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is boring film even if you like plot less comedy film then also you will be disappointed.

The Hangover Part 3 Movie Review

The Hangover Part 3 (A)

Length: - 1 hr. 51 min.

The Hangover Part 3 has a better plot than the previous parts. Also, it maintains your curiosity till the end. Although the film is low on nudity and the comedy side from the previous installments but it’s not disappointing though. One more additional by Todd Phillips to the series is action and violence. Hangover part 3 is a bit more violent from the previous two parts.

Alan Garner (Zach Galifianakis) father dies of heart attack because of his continuous childish acts. His friends Phil (Bradley Cooper) & Stuart (Eid Helms) aware of his abnormal condition wants to takes him out of town for a change. But they are being attacked by a mafia & being forced to bring back one of their friend; who stole $42 million gold from them. They try to get him back but something unexpected happens.

Alan’s character offers you some genuine laughable moments. In serious moments; Alan says that I have 60 apps in my phone; you know how much time it takes to download those apps. Alan’s man child nature keeps you entertaining throughout the film. Film is not entirely watchable. First few minutes of the second half is a bit boring.Few of the comic scene stills from the film are:-

Verdict: - Hangover this time goes in a different way. In spite of having plot holes it’s watchable, but not consistently engaging.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Movie Review

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (U)

Length: - 2 hrs. 41 min.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has a weak script. Although it is almost fill of witty lines and numerous feel good moments; still is not good enough. First half of the film is still ok but the second half is so dumb, which has too little to say but being stretched and stretched. Even the good songs seem like having no connection to move the film one step ahead.

Naina Talwar (Deepika Padukone) is a nerd and wants to take a break from her long study schedule while Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) is a cool guy whose dream is to travel the world. Naina & Bunny both goes to a trip to Manali during this Naina falls in love with Bunny ;while Bunny doesn't . Afterwards they get separated and never meets gain till 8 yrs  After that they meet in their common friend’s marriage. Does Bunny understand Naina’s love towards him? Do they understand difference each other well in spite of a big difference in their thought process?

Deepika Padukone looks good throughout the film. What are unconvincing are her character changes so easily from studious girl to a cool attitude. Sometimes she even seems to be cooler than Bunny’s character. Ranbir Kapoor is a great actor but he still has to get few more good films with strong script. Kalki Koechlin has also done a good job while Aditya Roy Kapoor is just ok.

Film has a larger than life story telling and great work by actors. It’s still not the film which takes you to the next level which was expected from it. Sometimes it also feels like same the film Rockstar which was moving nowhere after a point of time.

Verdict: - Creates a good ambience but its ambiguous story makes it unconvincing.
